Camp Instructor for Camp Animation

DESCRIPTION:
Assist lead instructor in a one-week camp for grades 9-12 (a maximum of 16 students). Date for position: July 28 - August 1, 2014, Monday – Friday, July 28 – August 1, 9am – 5pm.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assist lead instructor in brainstorming and storyboarding cartoon ideas with students. Teach high school students the basics of animation, filming, and editing. Campers will create original animated cartoons.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Must have training in animation. Must be 18 years of age or older. Must have experience teaching High School students. A Level 2 criminal background check must be completed (at company’s expense) as per Florida Statue for working with children. Failure to pass the background check will immediately terminate this agreement.

Draper/First Hand

DESCRIPTION:
Orlando Shakespeare Theater, an AEA regional theatre company, is searching for seasonal Draper/First Hands for our 10 show, 26th Season. This position will drape, pattern, and cut costumes according to the designers’ sketches and supervise Stitcher(s) in the production of building new costumes and altering existing costumes as assigned by the Costume Manager.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Draping and pattern-making for assigned designs; Fitting costumes as assigned by Costume Manager; Function as Stitcher when necessary; Supervising alterations and finish work on assigned costumes; Measuring of new artists; Anticipating need for overtime or over hire; Maintaining excellence of product; Training inexperienced personnel as necessary; Maintaining clean, safe, and organized working space and environment; Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum MFA in costume technology or comparable professional experience; Minimum 4 years draping at professional level; Demonstrated supervisory experience in a professional theatre setting; Strong knowledge of costume history and period patterns; Extensive knowledge of sewing and textiles; Ability to work effectively in a fast paced environment; Capacity to solve problems and engage in creative thinking about challenges; Excellent time management, organizational, and interpersonal skills; Excellent attention to detail. This is a full-time, seasonal position.

Stitcher

DESCRIPTION:
Orlando Shakespeare Theater, an AEA regional theatre company, is searching for seasonal Stitchers for our 10 show, 26th Season.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Sewing assigned costumes by hand or machine. A Stitcher will have extensive knowledge of garment construction, alteration, and repair. They will be able to work directly under the Costume Shop Supervisor to construct original costume items, alter and fit existing garments, and repair/maintain pieces as needed. Special costume crafts skills are preferred.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum BA in Technical Theatre or equivalent experience. 1+ years experience in theater costume creation at a regional theater; Strong knowledge of sewing techniques (hand and machine); Strong knowledge of shop equipment and tools; Knowledge of fabric types and their uses for stage; Knowledge of costume and fashion history; Knowledge of a variety of materials, including, but not limited to, clay, buckram, felt, thermoplastics, foams, adhesive and metal work a plus; Knowledge of mold making and sculpting techniques a plus; Excellent organization, problem-solving, and communicative skills.

Facility Caretaker - Part-Time

DESCRIPTION:
The Orlando Shakespeare Theater in Partnership with UCF is currently accepting applications a Part- Time Facilities Caretaker. The position reports to the Operations Lead. Responsibilities include the daily cleanliness and appearance of all public spaces, offices, and theaters based on a cleaning schedule; setup and breakdown meeting spaces used by the Theater and rental groups, securing the building at the end of the night, and other projects as deemed necessary by the Operations Lead.
