BLACK RENAISSANCE NIGHT
Join Orlando Shakes for our “Black Renaissance Night”, a night to celebrate the Harlem Renaissance, Fats Waller, Ain’t Misbehavin’, and Black members of our community. This Affinity Night is to bring together Black members of our community for the Thursday, April 25th, 7:30 p.m. performance of Ain’t Misbehavin’. The evening will feature a safe and welcoming space for the community and open dialogue afterward for attendees.
After the performance, a post-show gathering in the Dr. Phillips Patrons’ Room will occur to highlight the perspectives and discuss ideas relevant to the Black Renaissance, then and now, and have an open dialogue about Ain’t Misbehavin’ and its applicability to present-day experiences. Drinks and snacks will be provided.
Tickets for this special event are just $15 for all who wish to attend (price includes Ain’t Misbehavin’ performance and post-show gathering). Seating is limited. Each order will also have an opportunity to donate to the Black Artistry Fund that was created to facilitate more Black artists, playwrights, and investment in the development of Black staff members at Orlando Shakes.
While primarily designed for Black community members, we warmly welcome allies and supporters who seek to celebrate diversity and promote understanding. All are welcome to attend the 7:30 p.m. performance of Ain’t Misbehavin’. If you are unable to attend but would like to support more events like this, we encourage you to consider a donation to our Black Artistry Fund.
