About This Production
Are you brave enough to step into the laboratory?
Dr. Henry Jekyll is a brilliant scientist frustrated by dull “respectable” life in 1888 Victorian London. He creates a potion to unleash his inner bestial nature, transforming him into the brutish but eerily endearing Edward Hyde. Hyde lives the high life while Jekyll’s mundane doctoral career continues — until Hyde’s passions begin to turn up a body count. Equal parts thrilling and deviant, Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde will captivate those brave enough to step into Dr. Jekyll’s laboratory.
Critic and Audience Reviews
-Matt Palm, Orlando SentinelOrlando Shakespeare Theater’s production of “Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde” offers a consistently entertaining theatricality, delightfully setting the scene for this classic creep-fest.
-John G.Thank you for an exciting performance! Great opening night! Loved the explanations given by the director prior to the play. These question and answer sessions shed light into the crafting of the play being presented. Thanks again!
-Cyndi R.F.Just saw this, AMAZING is an understatement. Bravo!
-George W.C.The Orlando Shakes group could transform any written text into fascinating drama. Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde is an old story, but your production was so well prepared, acted, directed that it became fresh and compelling. A small group of actors became a host of believable characters and the acting was so good it exceeds my expectations and then some.
-Libby Champion, BroadwayWorld.comThe cast does an outstanding job of not only being terrifying, but keeping the audience on the edge of their seat in the hopes of answering this simple question: Is Dr. Jekyll’s battle within himself a reflection of ourselves?
-Michael Freeman, Freeline Media OrlandoThis is a fine Halloween season production, suitably chilling in parts, but also an intelligent handing of a classic and well-worn story.
-Gordon G.…And at Orlando Shakes what else could it be but another stellar performance? Saw it on Saturday, and was mesmerized!
