ABOUT THE PLAYWRIGHT
Stephen Brown
Stephen recently graduated from The Juilliard School’s Lila Acheson Wallace American Playwrights Program. His play The Many Wondrous Realities of Jasmine Starr-Kidd won the Kendeda Award and was produced at The Alliance Theatre in Atlanta; it is currently being adapted into a film.
His play Dunk City was developed at New York Theatre Workshop, Florida Repertory, NNPN’s National Showcase, and the Juilliard School; it is also currently slated to be made into a feature film.
His other work has been developed and received readings at Primary Stages, the Atlantic Theatre Company, MCC, Page 73, Ensemble Studio Theatre, Barter Theatre, and Theatre Lab at FAU. He’s been a Finalist for the Play Penn Conference, Seven Devil’s Playwrights Conference, the Blue Ink Award, the Neukom Prize, and the Aurand Harris Award. He was a member of Youngblood at EST, Page 73’s playwriting group I-73 and has new play commission from the Ensemble Studio Theatre / Sloan Project and the Atlantic Theatre Company. He’s currently developing Film / TV projects with The Space Program, Jewelbox Pictures, and Hoorae Media.
