About This Production
“Something wicked this way comes.” Experience a visually striking, modern production of Shakespeare’s Scottish play, featuring dynamic choreography in an intimate setting. Blind ambition and twisted prophesy lead Macbeth to murder the Scottish king and seize the throne. An impulse for destruction and a loose grip on sanity define Lord and Lady Macbeth’s foothold on power that can only end in tragedy.
This production is part of Shakespeare in American Communities, a program of the National Endowment for the Arts in partnership with Arts Midwest.
Critic and Audience Reviews
-Matthew J. Palm, Orlando SentinelAll the players add to the general atmosphere, covering their faces in black cloth, hands writhing as they swirl around each other — sometimes seemingly representing malevolence itself ... And that percussive music becomes more insistent, brilliantly building tension and offering catharsis.
-Audience MemberWe were moved, scared, amused, and delighted with the emotional intensity of this performance. Riveting! The use of the stage, music, lighting was exceptional. The acting exquisite. Shakespeare's language shown through with major dramatic effect.
-Audience MemberMagnificent! Loved the blending of acting, movement, and music.
