About This Production
Inspired by one of the greatest novels in Western literature, Man of La Mancha tells the tale of the “mad knight” Don Quixote as he pursues his quest for the impossible dream. Trapped inside the walls of a dungeon during the Spanish Inquisition, Don Quixote transforms his surroundings into a magical landscape of epic battles, majestic lords and ladies, and beautiful dreams.
The internationally acclaimed, Tony Award-winning musical is a glorious affirmation of the unyielding resilience of the human spirit. Featuring the classic song “The Impossible Dream,” this timeless tale of love and adventure has inspired audiences for decades.
Critic and Audience Reviews
-Don Grigware, Broadway World Los AngelesGaines not only has one of the best tenor voices in the business, but has such clear and eloquent diction, which serves him well, especially as he transitions from Cervantes to the madness of Alonso Quijana and Quixote.
-Michael Freeman, Freeline MediaThe cast of 19 actors work as a superb ensemble... Life truly can be unforgiving and cruel, but it’s up to all of us to figure out just how far escapism can carry us along.
-Matt Palm, Orlando SentinelIn short, this 'Man of La Mancha' looks and sounds fantastic — and that goes beyond the technical effects.
-Michael McLeod, Orlando MagazineYou’re going to want to say you saw Davis Gaines do this part. Gaines—who grew up in Orlando, went on to Broadway success, and now lives in Los Angeles—will forever be linked to the title role of The Phantom of the Opera.
